Hermetic Packaging

We are experts in hermetic packaging for active implants, and we develop tailored solutions together with our customers. Depending on your device, we draw on the same ceramic technology used in our own Brain Interchange implant, or on more conventional packaging, for example in titanium. Either way, the packaging is engineered around your device, from feedthroughs and housing to fully integrated subassemblies, and built to protect the electronics for the life of the implant.

Modern implants carry more channels in less space. Based on our proprietary feedthrough technology, we build hermetic encapsulations with high channel counts in custom, highly miniaturized form factors. The smaller a device becomes, the harder it is to integrate, and that is exactly where our experience makes the difference, fitting more capability into less space without compromising reliability.

We protect the hermetic subassembly with customized coatings and silicone overmolding. This adds a flexible, biocompatible outer layer that shields the assembly and ensures safe, reliable contact with the surrounding tissue over the long term.

This unique hermetic ceramic packaging technology reliably protects our own Brain Interchange implant, with its 32 feedthroughs for recording and stimulation. We are happy to provide you with Brain Interchange's validated packaging design, or to adapt this technology for your device.
