What they are
This is the top of what we do. We bring together every layer of an active implant, the neural interface, the hermetically protected electronics, the software and the testing, into a system that communicates with the nervous system and is ready for its study or its market. For partners, it means one partner is accountable from the first contact to the finished device.
The design space
We build around your therapy, not a platform you have to fit into. That covers the electrode configuration, the sensing and stimulation channels, the implantable electronics, the interconnect that ties them together, wireless communication and power, and the embedded software that runs the loop.
What a complete system looks like
Our own Brain Interchange platform shows what a complete active implantable system from CorTec can do. It is fully implantable and wireless, with 32 recording and 32 stimulation channels, bidirectional radio-frequency communication in the 2.4 GHz band, inductive power transfer, and a closed-loop latency below 25 milliseconds. The system spans an implantable unit, an external unit and a computing unit, and an electrically identical bench-top Evaluation Kit makes it easy to start.
Brain Interchange is an investigational device. We bring the same capability to the systems we build with partners.
How we build them
We build our own brain implant, which is why we can build yours. Our Brain Interchange platform, an investigational fully implantable closed-loop system, is treating neurological disease in the clinic and is proof that we can take an active implant all the way from concept to first-in-human. The same vertically integrated capability is open to partners.
